The following photos and descriptions are additional custom options and in-house work I perform. Any additional features, options, and finish requests can possibly extend the lead-time.

Additional Options Available
High Grip Cut
A machined knuckle sized notch under the trigger housing to give the shooter a higher and more comfortable grip to control recoil. It also acts as a memory groove for the shooting hand when drawing the pistol from a holster.
Tactical Light Rail Frame
The 1911 is becoming the most popular entry gun for several branches of government. For tactical purposes a integral accessories rail is available for lights, lasers etc. Excellent choice for Home Defense.
Mag Well
The Two-piece mag well is a blended and polished additional length and width magwell which makes funneling magazine reloads much smoother for any shooter. It is a two piece component and can be removed with simple tools.
Volkmann GripWell™
The Volkmann Gripwell™, allows you to funnel the mag chute without adding any length to the frame. The pistol is actually lighter with this cut, with a large benefit being; you can use any type of magazine base, padded or non-padded, with this custom option. There are NO additional parts incorporated in the build process that can shoot themselves loose, unlike adding a two-piece magwell to your gun.
Front Cocking Serrations
Very handy for slide manipulation on loaded and unloaded pistols. “Press Checks” can be performed in a more secure and safe manner.
Arrow Point Serrations
A special design cut manually into the top of the slide for a “tip of the spear” look.
Dimpled Front Strap
This aggressive front strap treatment is functional, durable and elegant.
Ed Brown Bobtail™
Brown Bobtail™, this size reducing feature can be performed on all 1911s with the exception of the Officers Model. A must for concealed carry pistols, the shape of the rounded butt helps on “printing” issues of the standard frame dimensions of a 1911. In addition, it also shaves a few ounces of weight off your carry piece.
Monogram Bushing Plug Set
A thicker than stock custom bushing machined from very strong 300 series stainless steel and perfectly mated up with my Volkmann logo spring plug. All Monogram Set upgrades include a flushed perfections crown treatment to my match barrel.
Volkmann Rear Logo
Signature Volkmann logo centered behind the rear serrations for a custom look.
Flush and Beveled Slide Stop
A clean cut and relieved slide stop post.
Fluted Hood
Machined Flute cuts the length of the exposed barrel hood.
Threaded Barrel
Silence is Golden! This match grade Threaded Barrel is hand fit for exceptional accuracy and can be added to any of my builds as a replacement to the standard non threaded version. I have several choices of thread size and pitch.
Battlehook Rear Sight
This heavy serrated black rear blade shows an excellent sight picture that is quick for target acquisition and has the ability and strength to operate the slide of the pistol single handedly in a real combat situation. This sight is CNC machined from bar stock 4140 series Carbon Steel. Created to be the most durable and functional rear sight on the market. The rear notch is 0.140 wide and 0.125 deep for faster and easier target acquisition.
Adjustable Rear Sight
Competition proven, this sight has a large rear blade with fine serrations to cut glare. Excellent for the range and competition. adjustable for wind-age and elevation.
Novak
Novak Low Mount Combat sights, (with or without tritium) is a very streamlined design which gives this sight a truly snag free shape. The large dovetail and thick cut blade are incorporated together for the best strength available.
Gold Bead Front Sight
Excellent choice for a custom look on your 1911. This sight is great for normal to low light shooting conditions.
RMR Sight

Custom Finishes:
Ion-Bond
This powder coat style finish is applied by electrically charging each individual part creating a magnetic bond with the oppositely charged Ion-Bond material. The covered parts are then brought up to a high temperature to create a very hard and durable finish. This finish can be applied to the internal bore and chamber of the barrel without influencing cartridge pressure.
Traditional Bluing
The most classic 1911 look available past and present! Today’s hot salt bluing systems are computer controlled to regulate and maintain exact temperatures for consistent coloring. With this process there are no more “purple parts” on your beautifully blued pistol. Instead you get a deep, dark and even blued finish that will impress.
Stainless Steel
For an inside and out rust and corrosion resistant pistol, I use a combination of S300 series stainless steel for my custom 1911s. The build involves two separate series of steel, one for my slide and one for my frame. By incorporating the two different series of steel I minimize the risk of “metal gulling” between the slide and frame while operating the handgun. Stainless steel can be coated with Rockote orIon-Bond for an extremely durable pistol throughout.
Color Case Hardened
Case Hardening gives your firearm a familiar and nostalgic appearance. To achieve this classic look the frame is evenly heated to a specific temperature in a kiln. It is then submerged and cured in a dry calcium mixture then very slowly brought down to room temperature. The color enhances to it’s brilliance as the metal cools. No two are alike when finished, this guarantees a true “one of a kind” 1911 for your collection.
